The Abbassis' sharing good news

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10

Dear friends and partners,

We are excited about the diverse programs that we presented, whether to the youth or women, during these unprecedented times. We are appreciative of the community support and all the impact we witnessed even when we’re not back yet in full force and capacity to our on-ground ministry.

We are thrilled about the upcoming wedding of our oldest son Ramzi on August 20. It’s time that all the family gathers to celebrate this event.

Pray for smooth arrangements, ceremony, and a blessed start to their marriage, that it would be firm on the Lord, our rock; the same One who united Ruba and me 34 years ago in marriage—gladly sharing that we’re celebrating our 34th year together this July!

Would you please keep following our newsletters and updates to learn more about the ministry?

Celebrating a Milestone

The Youth Initiative conducted an activity for young men and women who have walked the journey of equipment and change with ACCTS in the past years in an attempt to build a network of volunteers of those whose lives were changed and motivated to hand over the baton so that they can continue the journey. For this purpose, we guided the youth through a journey map and were encouraged for volunteering work. ACCTS presented motivational sessions on the influence of a mustard seed and shared the difference between leaders and influencers.

We have happy that we were able to launching during this month our youth social media platforms titled "Another angle". You may visit the social media pages through the links below.

ACCTS Director participates in the Baptist World Alliance 22nd Virtual Congress

Dr. Nabeeh Abbassi had the privilege to present a 15 – 20 minute Bible study in Arabic with English translation on the theme of "Together in Mission" at their 22nd Baptist World Congress meeting. This year’s meeting was held virtually from July 7 – 10.

It was a great honor for Dr. Abbassi to represent Jordan and the Jordanian Baptist Convention at this meeting.

Dr. Nabeeh received an official and personal thank you from the BWA team.

"Your participation in the Bible Study ministry of the Congress helped to make this historic event a success. You were among 350 other Baptist leaders from more than 70 countries who contributed to this incredible and historic Congress. Thank you! Your dedication to serving God by making your gifts available to the global Baptist family is appreciated."

Restoring life from Death

This is what actually happened by the Lord’s work and the fervent prayers of youth partners and diligent work of AWT servants.

Through the life-growth program second round, we received women from different backgrounds, denominations and beliefs. Many participants were followers through our social media platforms and not merely invitees.

The influence of this program on this group was phenomenal; it shook deeply rooted false beliefs and values and replaced them with the truth of God’s word. Many women came from what one of the participants named "the culture of death". These women come from communities and even churches that suppressed their identities and invaded their minds with religion and not a live relationship with our Lord.

The training resonated with women as it helped them in restoring their lost identity and relationship with God. They learned how to adopt the growth mindset. They were able to understand themselves, express their feelings in clear words and write down strategic points that they are walking accordingly and gradually improving along the way. AWT is following up on their progress.

Their words of mouth were, "You came to us from heaven. We desperately needed to find someone to put us on the right track and help us follow up the right steps."

These precious women came from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Palestine, Jordan and the US.

From a victim to a victor- A story from Egypt (Mona is not the real name)

No doubt, that the social media outreach is very powerful despite that it is not virtual. We are grateful that it has lead to further engagement in the programs and more to more doors of opportunity.

Like any future bride, Mona had hopes that her marriage would be filled with joy. As part of the Egyptian Coptic church, she married a man she assumed to be a believer. Her hopes and dreams for a lifetime of happiness were dashed when she discovered her husband’s drug and alcohol addiction. The psychological, physical, and sexual abuse started from day one.

Three months into the marriage, Mona had had enough and ran away to her family. She asked for a divorce, but the church clergy kept on questioning her case. This situation created a profound lack of trust in the church and its leaders, which only added to her turmoil. She now faced rejection from society, the church, and some of her family.

Mona reached out to AWT through one of our social media pages. AWT began to help her on the journey to healing, reaffirming her of God’s care and love. She needed a listening ear and practical help in expressing her emotions. We were able to help give her tools for how to manage her emotions and thinking patterns. We encouraged her to find a job and provided her with access to AWT training opportunities and resources, and most importantly supported her in prayer.

AWT continued to journey with Mona through this challenging season. This encouragement allowed her to see her God-given value. She joined AWT’s life-growth program this past June, where she was able to begin taking practical steps for her life. She now volunteers at her church, has found a job, and can set healthy boundaries. Thanks to your support of AWT programs, Mona is becoming a much healthier person mentally, socially, and spiritually.

Influential Women Community Leaders ride the waves with us: Fruits of social media programs

A group of women from the local community, who besides their work, practice their passion for influencing and developing and lead private initiatives and activities with different groups in the society, began their relationship with Arab Woman Today through the "It Is Not a Shame” 2021 campaign, which is part of the motivational and advocacy program. They played a role in spreading awareness and shared the message of our campaign that women do not have to live in shame.

They got the chance to know our activities and goals in-depth, and they are in constant contact with the Arab Woman Today. They could grasp a clear image of who we are, and we became more credible in their eyes.

Words of mouth:

"Thank you for encouraging us to record the video. Your style and method always push us to interact, speak and share our message with those around us."

"Thank you for being a real, down-to-earth platform that deals with us where we are in our reality and not based on the ideals society imposed on us."

"Usually, people think that we, as influencers, do not need anyone to influence us, but on the contrary, we are the ones who most need to renew our thoughts and emotions. It is what you're providing us with even without knowing it. Thank you doesn't sum it up enough, but at least it expresses my gratitude for knowing you."
