With Persecution Comes Strength
In a nearby Arab country, a family killed a daughter for coming to faith in Jesus. Hope (not her real name), whom you’ve read about in previous newsletters, lives in the same country and heard about this horrific incident. Yet instead of growing despondent or afraid after threats came her way, Hope grew courageous and more confident in her relationship with God. Below is a message she shared with an AWT team member.
“You know, I was religious and prayed day and night. I thought I was on the right path for 35 years, only to find out that I was deceived. I was afraid of a God that I imagined as an executioner,” Hope recalls. “I called on this God and asked him to give me a sign I was on the right path, but it was all in vain. Since I have known Jesus Christ, he has shown himself to me powerfully that he is by my side. I love him not out of fear but because he instilled something in me that I was looking for… If I leave this world [under the pressure of persecution], I don’t care. The only thing that matters to me is that I’ve gained eternal life…”
AWT team members continue to keep in touch with, pray for, and encourage Hope. With your prayer and financial support, you allow us to be a part of her journey.
