Ashrafiyeh, Amman (ACCTS/AWT) – ACCTS/AWT conducted a training session at the Episcopal church of Ashrafiyeh, around the theme “The Balanced roles in the life of the woman”. The training was given by Dima Fakhouri and was attended by twenty-one members of the church’s Women’s Group. Some of them are married refugee women or women living in poor conditions in Ashrafiyeh.

It was a great group of simple and burdened women. The interaction was great, they engaged in discussions, opened their hearts, and some even cried. They took decisions for change even in the simplest ways they could. The lecture was practical and relatable, especially since they are going through hardships and pressures. A lot of them are living an unrested, unsettled life as refugees waiting for resettlement and a more secure life.

“A refugee woman, one of the participants was vulnerable enough to open up and accept a prayer for relief and God’s intervention. She has been facing financial challenges and wasn’t able to provide treatment for her son. She lost self-confidence, to a point where she became careless about herself. Praying for her to step out in faith and take a decision for change.”

Another Iraqi refugee woman showed the photos of her 16-year-old son whom she lost in the war in 2009, but was still struggling with the grief as if the incident occurred yesterday!
