How to succeed in your relationships?
AWT hosted a workshop in Aqaba to educate women on healthy relationships.
27 & 28 January 2017
Aqaba, Jordan – How does one avoid unhealthy relational problems? How should one encourage healthy relationships with family and children? What are the best ways to deal with one another in order to enjoy fellowship together? AWT addressed these questions in a discipleship program aimed at women empowerment this January. Twenty seven women from all ages, unmarried and married attended this workshop. Many found that this knowledge was transferable across all types of relationships and all of whom were grateful for our teachings.
Rimonda, a participant said “Practical life examples were given. They have been instilled in our minds. Now we can attempt to build healthy relationships practically, successfully and by experience!”
We began by introducing relations and outlining the different types of relationships. Afterwards we taught about interrelationships, divergent relationships, toxic relationships and healthy relationships. We spoke about how to encourage healthy relatonships in our lives, and helped the women recognise a change having to be made from within in order to positively affect the relationships around you. Then, we covered the importance of boundaries in relationships. For example, it is not necessary to involve ones self fully in every relationship we have but rather to place boundaries in some relationships to ensure that they remain healthy.
Many women were very convinced by our teachings. They mentioned how much of the material resonated with them and applied to their personal lives. One woman even constructed her own solutions after the session. Those included listening more attentively to her daughter and understanding her communication style, and differentiating between relationships and what types of limits and boundaries to set.
The workshop also helped the participants recognize issues in their existing relationships and how to better manage them. Moreover, many women understood how to better articulate themselves in relational problems instead of suppressing their emotions. This taught the ladies the inner psychology particularly in sensitive personalities in order to know how to deal with others, relate to them and love them.
We were encouraged to be so acclaimed by this workshop. Collectively we work towards a society whereby women are more educated in emotional and relational aspects. In this case, healthier and more successful family dynamics and friendships will arise.
