AWT conducted an awareness-raising session for teenage girls of the Alfuhais Secondary School on overcoming stereotypes, and ideas about women that are being spread in our society.
Alfuhais, Jordan (ACCTS/ICC) - An interactive lecture was presented by Arab Woman Today (AWT) for thirty teenage girls and six teachers of the Al-Fuhais Secondary School for girls. It aimed to discuss the false ideas that are being spread in society and to raise awareness about their negative effects on women; how they can affect women’s roles in society, and put obstacles in the way of their scientific and practical ambitions.
It was the first time that this topic is being presented to students, and the response and interaction was very much positive. The students opened up and shared their frustrations with their families’ and the society’s views of them. We think that the target was reached; as they made decisions not to allow these frustrations to stand in their path to success and personal development.
