ACCTS Newsletter March 2022

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. - Colossians 4:2

Dear friends and partners,

Over the next two months, we invite to join us for some special events to learn and pray for ACCTS and the people of the Arab world. We cannot express enough how much we value your prayers, and that is why we want to help give you some specific ways you can, as the verse above encourages us, continue steadfastly in prayer. As you read this month's newsletters, we hope you will join in with us in thanksgiving to God for his work. You can find the information below for the two events in April and May. You are welcome to share this information with others you think might like to join.

Ramadan: A Close-up Look

Is Ramadan a holiday or a holy day? What are the cultural norms or rules for those who aren’t Muslim or fasting? What should I know about Ramadan?

Join us for a free virtual Lunch and Learn event to learn about Ramadan, a month celebrated by billions of Muslims around the world. Dr. Nabeeh Abbassi will present a concise explanation with insight as an Arab. The last few minutes at the end will be open for Q&A.

First Round of Nouara Training in 2022

In March, we held our first round of Nouara training with around 37 women participating. This training is uniquely designed for women seeking to develop themselves and have prosperous and fulfilled lives. Nourara is also for women seeking to grow and deepen their relationship with God, strengthen their ministries, and study the Bible more effectively. We are grateful for our three trainers (pictured below) from Egypt and Jordan leading these training sessions.

ACCTS Q&A: What does ACCTS do?

Are you curious about what ACCTS does? Dr. Nabeeh Abbassi explains in less than one minute in this Q&A video. If you have questions you would like to ask, email us at acts.awt@gmail.com.

With Persecution Comes Strength

In a nearby Arab country, a family killed a daughter for coming to faith in Jesus. Hope (not her real name), whom you’ve read about in previous newsletters, lives in the same country and heard about this horrific incident. Yet instead of growing despondent or afraid after threats came her way, Hope grew courageous and more confident in her relationship with God. Below is a message she shared with an AWT team member.

“You know, I was religious and prayed day and night. I thought I was on the right path for 35 years, only to find out that I was deceived. I was afraid of a God that I imagined as an executioner,” Hope recalls. “I called on this God and asked him to give me a sign I was on the right path, but it was all in vain. Since I have known Jesus Christ, he has shown himself to me powerfully that he is by my side. I love him not out of fear but because he instilled something in me that I was looking for… If I leave this world [under the pressure of persecution], I don’t care. The only thing that matters to me is that I’ve gained eternal life…”

AWT team members continue to keep in touch with, pray for, and encourage Hope. With your prayer and financial support, you allow us to be a part of her journey.
