ACCTS January 2021 Newsletter

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Dear friends and partners,

Indeed these are his plans for us, his children, as we enter a new year with thanksgiving and praise. We trust his hand to provide for the journey as he guides us with the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire towards accomplishing our mission.

We thank the Lord for you, our partners; without you, we can't continue the work God is doing through our ministry.

Nabeeh Abbassi

Grieving our faithful father

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing away of my father, Naeif Abbassi. We are thankful to God for the many fruitful years he granted him.

While being overseas doing God's work, this sad news struck us suddenly. It was a shock to us! Affected by Covid-19, his weak heart and lungs couldn't overcome the virus. The funeral was held in his hometown in Jordan on January 9. Due to the pandemic restrictions, only the immediate family attended. We covet your prayers for us as we say goodbye to a wonderful and faithful father.

2021 Innovations

We, ACCTS-AWT, are working fervently to implement the online learning styles through our upcoming projects to meet the regional and global needs. For this purpose, we studied our target groups' needs and updated our programs and content. An innovative website with virtual and self-learning platforms, in addition to a carefully chosen, goal-oriented social media content, will crown these efforts in the first half of 2021.

Social Media Activities

AWT team is creating unique, original content addressing the real source of love since Valentine's Day is around the corner.

Sadly speaking that honor crimes are increasing in the region, especially in Jordan. Every week, witness one or two crimes of honor. So it's why, later in March, we're launching a community regional 10-day campaign on honor and shame to have a voice and impact for a change regarding this cultural act. Primarily, seeking to renew mindsets on the genuine image God bestowed on us and acknowledging that He created us for dignity.

Youth Initiative

Our youth department is growing and influencing the community's youth, yet, volunteers still run it. Therefore, we need a full-time person to follow up on this work.

Counseling Ministry

During 2020, our counseling ministry reached 312 oppressed women who received any coaching and counseling level was with 1055 personal one-on-one sessions.

This healing journey changed their lives and brought hope and comfort.

Women grew in self-affirmation, had improved self-image, accepted, loved, and respected themselves. We saw hope revive and a desire for a life form. Many took steps to live meaningful lives.

An encouraging testimony from a counselee:

A woman shared, "I had never heard before the way you heard me! You didn't judge me. I need to love myself again and help it. I learned to give myself excuses instead of beating myself up. It is the first time amid depression and fatigue that I don't contemplate ending my life! I used to feel that I am a dirty girl, but today I think that the dirtiness is in peoples' evil thoughts! I hugged my mom when I used not to speak to her. I talked to myself in the mirror, which I used to fear. A time will come when I leave an imprint on this life!

I feel that I am in continuous progress. I won't waste your efforts and mine. I keep reminding myself to let go of the past and never give up! I feel I deserve to have a better life. I felt how important it is to find someone to hear us without judgment; therefore, I began to do this with other people as you did to me. I changed the inner dialogue inside me; I stopped calling myself stupid or dimwit! I began to repeat the words: 'I forgive myself. Tough missions need tough training! I love to learn and use my brain. I am trying to give myself the best I have.' I feel the road ahead is long, yet I have a goal, and I walk steadily towards it."

Such fruit keeps us going.

Support Our Work

While we actively seek to increase our influence in the Arab world, we need your help to make our efforts go even further!

If you're able, we'd love it if you could donate any amount to help us achieve our mission to develop individuals in spirit, soul, and body to participate in building the community.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.

Help us recruit new staff for the youth initiative!

We need an average of $1000 monthly. However, any designated gift of any size will help fill the position.

Financial Update

Praise God he has allowed us to reach 54% of end-of-year giving the goal! That is over half of it, which I believe is very encouraging. Praise the Lord! The remaining amount needed is $6,900.

We encourage you to continue your generous support. You are partnering with us in making a change in the lives of many in our region country, being good stewards of God's riches.
