“You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.” – Psalm 128:2

Our beloved friends,

It’s already mid-year, we have achieved many goals, and we are so excited for the second half of the year. New projects are coming up and about to start, though we are facing many pressures and mostly restrictions that hinder us from serving freely. We know one thing, “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

Nabeeh and Ruba Abbassi

Here is some family and ministry news:

Glad to announce to you the engagement of our son Rami Abbassi; it has brought joy to the family this July. Ramzi and Randi participated in a sports youth campaign in Jordan. Thank God that our sons are serving alongside us with the passion for ministry and following in the footsteps of Jesus.

Encouraging Impact from our Media Ministry

Our Satellite TV broadcast page is being so effective. Interaction, engagement and practical life change are expanding in quality and influence. Since the launch of season 4 in April 2018, the feedback from page fans has been rich, growing and thrilling. More than 100 women at least expressed their appreciation for the presented content and the benefit it brought to their lives.

Broadcast reach has spread widely; whether through TV streaming, Social Media pages and relevant groups, or the word of mouth. These interactions lead to some more private one-to-one conversations setting a platform for awareness, healthier self-expression, higher self-esteem and a more understanding of one’s value, which was crowned by making some life-changing decisions and other practical steps for change through the provided counseling and endless hours of follow-up dedicated for this purpose.

“You made me feel that there is still goodness in this life. And there are still people who have mercy and help without expecting something in return. I realized I have dignity; I am not cheap! You have made difference in my life. Thank you for your support and for being there for me.”

“You were right; I will appreciate myself. I’ll never allow being used by someone who doesn’t care about me. Thank you for your labor. I needed someone to help me make a decision and find relief, and I really did. You are a successful page.”

“Thank you for opening such a crucial topic. It is an obligation to raise our children’s awareness in regards to sexual abuse and the sanctity of their bodies. We should build a transparent friendship relationship with our kids. From this Social Media pulpit, I strongly demand that awareness should be raised at our children’s schools regarding these topics.”

“Your relationship with God determines your destiny and achieves your inner peace, not what other people think or say, not at all!”

Advocating for women victims of war and instability

AWT has been part of the coalition of civil society organizations steering committee who worked on the process of drafting the Jordanian National Action Plan (JONAP) for advancing the Implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, and its subsequent resolutions, was developed to respond to the country’s latest security and military challenges.

It is a 3-year plan (2018-2021) that has just been released and is aimed at integrating a gender-based approach towards women’s participation in prevention and protection processes during conflicts, as well as in peacebuilding, and maintaining stability and sustainable security.

News from our community projects

ACCTS Irbid Community Center (ICC) conducted an awareness-raising lecture on breastfeeding and its importance, which was attended by twenty-six Syrian and Jordanian women. It was in cooperation with Kitim Charity Association which hosted ICC and supported in reaching out to beneficiaries living in that town. We hope to see the fruit in their own lives.  Learn more

The Center has also hosted a dentist from Paraguay to implement an oral hygiene workshop for Syrian and Jordanian women and children. Twenty four women in addition to thirty-three children attended the workshop separately, and all of them received teeth hygiene kits to encourage them to start taking care of their mouths.  Learn more
