Dear family and friends,

Jordan witnessed seven consecutive days of a peaceful demonstration against tax reforms and economic situation.  Resulted in the resignation of the prime minister and his cabinet by the decree of His Majesty King Abdullah and appointing a new prime minister.  Pray for Jordan’s stability and our economic situation. May the Lord grant wisdom to our government and bring continued peace in a boiling region. Read below our training for Syrians from Aleppo, exciting times!

Arab Woman Today leader Abbassi named Brien Award recipient

ACCTS team congratulates Mrs. Ruba Abbassi for receiving this year’s Dellanna West O'Brien Award for Women's Leadership Development presented by WMU Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mrs. Abbassis work through AWT, which spans the worlds 22 Arabic-speaking countries, has been going nearly as long as the award.

It takes a committed leader to develop and equip other leaders, and Ruba is an exemplary model of such ripple-effect leadership, said Melanie Van Laningham of Birmingham, Alabama, who nominated Abbassi for the award. She does not shy away from the hardships that come with being a woman leader in the Arab world. In fact, she in her quiet strength walks through the obstacles with Christ-like grace, determination and persistence.

Developing spiritual skills

AWT has conducted a fruitful life-changing regional training in Byblos, Lebanon for seventeen Syrian women from Aleppo, Syria who went on a journey of spiritual and psychological discovery.
It has been the first time for this group of young women to soak into the depth of the Bible and explore practical means to understand it and live it. Not to mention the effective Trauma Healing sessions which raised awareness on how to deal with psychological inner problems.
The impact on ladies was so profound. Some dedicated themselves to a true relationship with the Lord. Others declared moving to a new spiritual level. And many had set out on a journey to healing and furthermore to support others who are suffering within their areas of influence. Many decisions were made for change.

AWT team is overwhelmed with what the Lord has done in the lives of those precious ladies.

The Lord revealed to me that He wants to be the leader of my life. He wants a father-daughter relationship between me and Him.

I recognized that I need to obey Gods voice for salvation and to keep on hearing His voice.

I felt I made an appointment with God. I spent some unpreceded quality time with Him. I heard an answer to my dilemma. That was so precious!

My eyes opened on details I wasn’t before able to fathom. I used to underestimate the value of the scripture, but now I took a decision to read the Bible differently and with a new perspective.

I learned that I am unique and distinguished in the nature of my character and how I face problems.

You have put me on the road to a new beginning. I will wait upon the Lord with trust.

I learned to forgive. I experienced a genuine group spirit and how to be determined in my decisions.

I learned that I can still help when I need help the most.

From disciples to partners in ministry

Proud of these two influential women who were equipped through our leadership Program and thankful to God for such precious investments for the kingdom.

Mirna from Syria has succeeded to achieve her dream of starting a kindergarten for kids titled Sinapi Kindergarten. Mirna has gone the extra mile and helped bring the Syrian young women who participated in this regional training.

She has also been mentoring their lives in Aleppo/Syria, as well. These potential, equipped young women are now workers alongside her in the kindergarten.

Nada from Lebanon has become an essential partner too. She helped us organize this regional training in Byblos and was one of the main trainers conducting the psychosocial sessions.
